Current Impact Issues

Conservation & Culture

Indigenous leadership is essential for effective wilderness conservation, while land-based education fosters cultural revitalization and strengthens future generations. We are honoured to be in service to… (3 examples coming, Lauri choosing) and admire the Right Relations Collaborative as an essential pathway demonstrating how philanthropy can nurture reparations and healthy relationships.

Inclusive Sport & Recreation

We support agencies that provide inclusive recreational programs, that work to eliminate the barriers that special populations face when accessing sport opportunities, outdoor recreation, and that provide therapeutic experiences in nature, including Living Skies Indigenous Basketball, Power To Be, Giants of Africa, Human Nature Counselling, CanAssist and Superfan Foundation

Diversity in STEM

Elevating voices that have been underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering and math fields including those of girls and women, LGBTQ2S+ and BIPOC people is essential to address environmental challenges and improve the health of individuals and communities. Working closely with St. Margaret’s School and the University of Victoria, this is a emerging area of learning for us.

Nawalakw is a social venture and charitable enterprise located in Kwakwaka'wakw territory, within the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia. The project is dedicated to language revitalization and healing. An adjoining ecotourism and wellness destination that operates in the summer months will fund ongoing programming and provide local employment for the surrounding Indigenous communities of the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation.

The Heart of Our Work

Nimble

We are a small core team within a family office of strategic and caring people who know that our greatest impact will come from partnering with high-capacity individuals and organizations, who have a long and respected history in the areas in which they work. We have exceptionally low overhead and can make decisions quickly and with joy. Our legacy will be seen in happier people and healthier oceans, air and land for generations.

Trusting

We choose to work with hope and trust, acknowledging that the current environmental and social outlooks can be daunting. We face the future through trust-based philanthropy and purpose-driven investments, uplifting the impacts of leaders whom we serve with friendship and financial resources. We do not have onerous applications, and our reporting requirements are minimal and flexible, leaving more time for the important work to be done. We invest with love and humanity, and consider the growth of relationships and community health above fiscal returns.
